How to write a stern resignation letter

When writing a “stern resignation letter,” these are some of the things that you need to keep in mind.

  • The first step is to tell your employer about leaving your job and the final work date. Keep it short as the essential part of the letter is the Last Date of your work.
  • Indicate the reason you are leaving your job. It would be best to be polite as you will leave a positive impression on your employer. Maintain your composure when drafting the letter.
  • Finally, thank your employer for the position and the opportunities you have enjoyed during your work period.
  • Ensure you proofread your letter before sending it to your employer. You can send the letter to your family and friend to check for grammatical errors.

Sample 1:

“[Mention the name of the company]

[Mention the address of the company]

[Mention your name]

[Mention your designation]

[Mention the name of the employee]

[Mention the address of the employee]

[Mention the date]

[Mention the subject]

Dear sir/madam,

I, [Mention the name of the employee], am writing this letter to inform you about my resignation from my post in [Mention the name of the firm], which will be effective from [Mention the date] on account of not being a good fit to the company.

Over the past [Mention the period], I have been a loyal employee at the firm. I have stood by my company without faltering. I have assisted my supervisor, colleagues and new joiners, worked innumerable hours and helped more than a few of you during my [Mention the time] tenure. Due to my pursuit of an ever-evolving life that is to come ahead, I must terminate working with the company.

[Mention the time] from now, my time working with [Mention the name of the company] will come to an end, and I will lay my eyes on a new horizon. What saddens me the most is despite being a company that promotes equality and respect for women, it could not stand up to its claim and beliefs. Even after mentioning time and again, no actions were taken against the mishaps. It is disrespectful for me as an employee and as a woman who gave equal or more work; compared to her male counterparts.

A brighter future awaits me where I would not have to wake up each morning with a ridiculing thought of not being enough for the role I have been working in all these years. Thus, with a heavy heart, I send you my impending resignation. I request you to accept my resignation and relieve me of all my responsibilities at the earliest.

Regards,”

Sample 2:

“[Mention the name of the company]

[Mention the address of the company]

[Mention your name]

[Mention your designation]

[Mention the name of the employee]

[Mention the address of the employee]

[Mention the date]

[Mention the subject]

Dear sir/madam,

I had joined the [Mention the name of the firm or organization] [Mention the period] ago as a [Mention the designation]. It has been quite a journey of troughs and crests all along. But today, after lots of scrutinizing, I have made up my mind to resign from [Mention the name of the company].

The company’s ideology impressed me the most to associate with it as [Mention the designation] as a starting point. The company believed in equal opportunity and pay scale for all its employees regardless of their gender, caste or creed, which it stood up only till [Mention the period] from the date of my joining.

It feels immensely derogatory to work in an environment where female employees are gradually getting demeaned and of lesser importance in terms of recognition for our work. In the 21st century, it gets only unimaginable for me to believe that such exploitative behavior can be imparted at the office of such a remarkable firm. The company’s vision to be liberal, progressive and inclusive has only proven to be otherwise.

The past [period] has convinced me that my efforts and hard work have not been valued in the company. I have reached the end of the road. Not only does the pay scale factor, but also the male-dominated working environment has only added to my woes. Even after complaining about the same, no efficient actions have taken place; the male accused counterparts are enjoying utmost freedom.

I would like you to oblige by relieving me from my post of [Mention the designation] at [Mention the name of the firm ] at the earliest possible time.

Regards”

Sample 3:

“[Mention the subject]

Dear sir/madam,

The purpose of this letter is to resign from my position as [position] at [firm]. I had joined this firm with the thought of it being an esteemed one as it claims or showcases to be. But little did I know a reputed place can also be equally unsafe and dangerous for women employees.

I have been working in this firm since [Mention the period], and I am a senior employee. I share a coordinated bond with all my juniors, colleagues and seniors. Everybody at work has always shared a cordial relationship until recently. With your advent as the new [Mention the designation], it has only taken me by surprise to what extent have you radicalized the mindset of my fellow workmates by spreading an utmost non-sensual rumor about the two of us.

It ridicules me to even bring it to light that this act has only showcased your dignity and nasty intentions behind the angelic masquerade. I am a happily married woman, blessed with two children, who knows what her limits are and where to draw the boundary. How could you even think about gas lighting such a cheap thought and spread it like forest fire within [Mention time]! Your act deserves to be known by everyone in the office and I vouch to make it happen.

Thus, with an urgent notice of [Mention the time], I, forward my resignation which will be effective from [Mention the date]. The company has taught me a lot in the past [Mention the time] but I feel unfortunate to be having such an end to this wonderful journey at [Mention the name of the firm or organization].

Regards”

Sample 4:

“Dear Executive Committee,

I regret to inform you that I will be giving my 14-day notice to resign today.

Thank you for all the opportunities you’ve given me. Never before in my life have I had to learn how to be so independent. The valuable skills in defending my work will serve me well in the future.

Please let Greg know, personally, that I appreciate how much oversight he gave. Some call that micromanaging; I just call it being well-informed. How could he do his job well if I wasn’t required to ask permission to go to the bathroom? He always said, “If you’re not at your desk, you’re not working.” Amazing that, in this day and age, anyone would think you could get work done anywhere but at your desk. You should commend Martin for this, as he doesn’t leave his desk all day. As his cubicle partner, the special “sun tea” he has in that large jar was a pleasant addition.

I appreciate, too, how hard you all worked to make me feel comfortable. The random drug tests were a welcome event; especially since they were taken every week. I appreciate, too, their thoroughness of them. My chemo medication showed up in every test, and the extra day off to present my case to the Board so I could keep my job served almost like a three-day weekend.

I also want to thank Pam for accounting. Without her diligence, I may have gotten a paycheck on time. However, the juggle between bills I had to pay on what date only added spice to life. Coupled with the medical bills, this was certainly a fun game of When Will I Get Paid?

I know times have been tough around here. I watched most of my friends get fired or laid off for no reason. I read all your memos; the Recession ended in 2009, yet it was the number 1 reason for layoffs and termination last year. Crazy to think how slow the economic growth is. On an unrelated note, my son is taking flight lessons and bumped into Mr Fitzgerald purchasing his third — sorry, fourth — private jet. Be safe in those skies!

Not to take up too much of your time, I understand you’re all busy. Mr Emerson’s bottle of scotch isn’t going to drink itself! I hate to ruin a good surprise, but just a friendly heads-up, there will be a representative from the IRS appearing soon. I won’t tell you when it’ll be my gift to you. Remember the monthly birthday parties, where sometimes we would get cake? Well, it’ll be like that. Except you’re getting a visit.

Thanks for the wasted years here. I hope I never see any of you, which may not be long, since you cancelled all our benefits packages, and I haven’t been able to afford treatment.

Sincerely,

John Campbell”

Sample 5:

‘[Mention the name of the company]

[Mention the address of the company]

[Mention your name]

[Mention your designation]

[Mention the name of the employee]

[Mention the address of the employee]

[Mention the date]

[Mention the subject]

Dear sir/madam,

I write this letter to express my intentions in the most straightforward way possible of resigning from [Mention the name of the firm]. I have been an employee at [Mention the name of the firm] since [Mention the time] working as [Mention the designation]. [Mention the name of the company] has been known for its remarkably well service is to pay off ratio for decades.

I have always been a loyal, hardworking, dedicated and promising employee. My colleagues have always lauded me for my contribution, which has benefitted the company in innumerable ways.

Through times thick and thin, I’ve given in my best to uplift or help the company. After all this service, accusing me of the recent security breach at [Mention the name of the company] is just unacceptable. I was taken by utter surprise when HR, Ms. [Mention the name] informed me about this and directly accused me of the same after having obtained CCTV footage of someone else in the same outfit that I possess, entering the office room on an off day.

And all for putting a bad impression on me, to stop my promotion! It feels terrible to have worked with such snakes for [Mention the time]. I have always been vocal and articulate about my thoughts, and if that intimidates anybody to the extent that they can play nasty politics in the office, I better not work in such a one.

Thank you so much for making me realize my potential and power. I hope to make the best use of it further in the future too.

Yours truly”
