Sample resignation letter manager position

A sample resignation letter for the manager position is useful if you are a restaurant manager or occupying any other managerial role.

As an employee leaving your job role, it is important to write a professional resignation letter when quitting.

You may have personal reasons, family emergencies to attend, or even because of harassment.

Whatever the reason may be, remember to submit a formal resignation preferably in a business format.

Here are some tips on how to resign professionally and what your letter should include:

  • State clearly the fact that you are leaving.
  • Indicate the last day of employment considering giving your employer enough notice so they can find a suitable replacement (at least 2 weeks’ notice).
  • Even if you had a negative experience, make sure you include a “thank you” statement for the opportunity given when they hired you.
  • If you are willing, extend an offer to help them during the transition period by training your replacement

Before you submit your resignation letter, make sure to speak to your boss or immediate manager indicating your intention to leave.

Be prepared for any counteroffers and also financially if they decide to accept your resignation effective immediately.

Resuming, the first paragraph can be used to identify yourself, your job position, and the name of the company.

Then, follow with a brief statement of intent to leave the company and when.

The second paragraph can reflect positive experiences or highlights of your job but this is optional. You can also include here the “thank you” statement.

As mentioned, if you fill willing to, the third paragraph can reflect your intention to assist in the transition period and include your personal contact information in case they need to reach out to you.

Dear Mack Wilson,

It has been such a pleasure to work with you at Anderson Widgets these past five years. While I am sad to leave, I am happy to say that I have accepted a position in Florida which will set me up nicely toward retirement. I will work my last day at Anderson on May 15, 2015.

Working with you has made my job engaging, interesting, educational, and even fun. We have done so well as part of a tightly-knit team and you have become one of my closest friends. I look forward to continuing the friendship, although I cannot pass on this great opportunity which takes me away from my Anderson Widget family.

I am organizing everything I can right now, to ensure the next general manager steps into a well kept and concisely documented position. If you know what works best for the company during these types of management changes, please let me know so I can provide those tools and help make everyone successful from here forward.

Sincerely,

John Hearn”
