Sample resignation letter looking for greener pasture

A sample resignation letter looking for greener pastures is useful if you are considering leaving your current job because you would like to have a change in the focus of your career or you have received your dream job offer, personal reasons, etc.

However, it doesn’t really matter why you would like to resign if you want to quit.

It is important to leave on good terms and get a good recommendation letter for future employment.

Considering the notice period you will give your employer by going through your employment contract to check their standard notice period, but for most employers is at least two weeks’ notice.

In addition, make sure you talk to your boss, manager, or supervisor about your intention to leave and be prepared for any counteroffers.

You can decide to include the reason why you are leaving or just be truthful and tell your boss about it.

When you write your letter (keep it professional and straight to the point) make sure to include:

  • The intention to leave the company.
  • The last day of employment considering your notice period.
  • You can include some highlights of the time you have worked there.
  • Offer assistance in the transition period.
  • Thank your employer for the opportunity.
  • Use a warm closing and sign your letter.

Jose Rodriguez

Director, Human Resources

Manufly

123 Business Rd.

Business City, NY 54321

Dear Mr. Rodriguez,

Please consider this my resignation letter from my position as HR Assistant at Manufly Communications, effective September 30th.

The past four years at Manufly have been incredible. I have enjoyed working here and feel that I am leaving with a great deal of experience. However, I have expressed my interest to move up the ladder many times over the years, and I see that this position does not have as much room for growth as I had originally anticipated. I feel that I need to move on and seek a position that allows for more responsibility and professional career growth.

Being your assistant has been very enjoyable over the last few years, but sadly I must move on in order to do what is best for me and my career. I hope to stay in touch and I want to thank you again for the time we shared together. I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,

Your Signature (hard copy letter)

Martha Smith”

Re: Resignation from the position of Administrative Assistant

I hereby officially tender my resignation from the position of an administrative assistant with effect from October 16th, 2021. My resignation today gives you a one week window to come to terms with it and make appropriate arrangements for my departure altogether.

Working for your organization for the last 4 years has enriched my experience, opened a world of opportunities for me, and made me better positioned to take on more challenging roles in the future. Indeed, I will miss the warmth and interactions I have had with you all along.

My reason for leaving is that my husband has relocated to another state. I would not wish that my family splits up as this might give rise to infidelity and poorly cared for children. Between now and when I finally leave the company, I will report for work as usual. Thereafter, I may be available for consultations and follow-ups.

I wish you all the best in your endeavors. I am indeed grateful for the kind of support, warmth, and love you bestowed upon me throughout my stint here.

Kindly draw to my attention what ways I may be useful to you in the transition period.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. /Ms. Last Name:

I draft this letter to notify you of my imminent exit from your organization. This is to happen within a month from now. Though I cherish and would have wished to work for you in the long run, my time to depart from the firm has just come.

I happen to receive a job offer with better perks and allowances elsewhere. Furthermore, I made it plain to you from the beginning that I was just on my way to some greener pastures elsewhere. In other words, my stay in your firm was just a passing cloud.

My departure from your firm will bring about untold inconveniences. I am fully alive to that fact. That is why I offer my full support and cooperation during the transition phase. Feel free to reach me at 000 0 0 0 0 00 or abcd@uvwxyz.com.

Lastly, I would wish to express my sincere gratitude for the support and cooperation you gave me while in your company. My special thanks go to my colleagues who encouraged and walked hand in hand with me all along.

Sincerely,

Your Signature,
