Sample resignation letter looking for a better opportunity

A sample resignation letter when looking for a better opportunity such as wanting to go abroad, new job opportunity, better salary or looking for career growth, it is very useful when you don’t really know what to say as an employee wo is quitting or leaving after some time of working at the company or just started a couple of months ago.

If you have discussed with your employer your intention to leave then it is time to submit a formal resignation letter with appropriate notice (i.e. 2 weeks notice), letting them know your last day of employment, etc.

This will increase the chance of getting a good recommendation letter for future employment opportunities.

Dear Stacey

Please accept this letter as a notice of my resignation from my position as an accountant at your company. My last day of work will be 9/24/19.

I recently reviewed an offer to work as a senior accountant at Brisberry Group of Companies. After careful evaluation, I decided to take up this new opportunity.

Even before I depart, I would like to help in a smooth transition to my accounting duties. Therefore, I will assist in training the new recruit to ensure the system runs smooth as earlier planned. Also, I will ascertain that all records and reports are updated before my last day of work.

“I am sorry to inform you that circumstances dictate I must resign from my position as Division Manager. I prefer to leave at the end of this week, if that is convenient. If not, I will gladly comply with the company’s request to give two weeks’ termination notice.

Each year my financial obligations have increased; unfortunately, my salary here has not been able to keep up with these demands. As a result, I have been forced to reconsider my employment here and have concluded that it would be best for me to seek employment with a company better equipped to meet my financial requirements. Despite this, it is with mixed emotions that I have accepted a position elsewhere that carries a higher salary with possibilities for future advancement,

Please accept my thanks for the opportunity to work with you. The guidance you have given me has proved invaluable and has prepared me well for my new position. I have enjoyed the challenges presented here at Doe’s, and I sincerely hope that I have returned adequate service for all the benefits that I have received.

I would be happy to help you find and train a suitable replacement. Because my projects are current and because I have left detailed instructions illustrating how to perform my job duties on my desk, my successor should have little difficulty assuming my responsibilities. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help make this a smooth transition.”

“Regretfully, I must inform you that I need to resign from my position here as an office manager. In accordance with company policy, I am offering two weeks’ notice, effective today. Please know that I am grateful for the trust and confidence that you have placed in me in the last three years. I especially appreciated the opportunity to convert the paper files in the order department to a computerized system. I believe that similar conversions in other departments, though time-consuming in the beginning, would greatly benefit the company in the long run.

I have been offered a position as Technology Specialist in a larger company and I feel I must accept. Although the higher salary was one factor in my decision, I will also have a greater opportunity to use my degree in computer science. Of course, I will be happy to help train a replacement while I am here. The new manager is also free to call me at home or email me with any questions after I leave. All of my files have been backed up on CD-R and are labeled appropriately. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help make this transition as trouble-free as possible.”

“Dear Ms. Gallisano,

I regret to inform you that I am resigning from my position here as a sales consultant. I would like to personally thank you for the opportunity you provided me to work alongside you at such a great company. I have learned many new skills here and wish you and the team all the best for the future.

I want to be completely honest and frank about why I am leaving the company. I have been offered an opportunity at a different company that is better aligned with my career goals. (If you’d like to be specific here, you can.) The training and education on offer at the new company will provide me with the tools I will need to keep growing as a sales consultant, with the goal to eventually move into a management position.

This was not an easy decision for me to come to, however, it is an opportunity I can not overlook.

I do not intend to inconvenience you with this news, and I hope you will accept my most sincere apologies for making the 25th of July my final day here. Thanks again for all you have done for me.

Kind regards,
