Sample resignation letter job
A sample resignation letter can be adapted to any job role and here is an example of how you could start writing your letter (thebalancecareers.com):
“Please accept this letter as notice that I will be resigning from my job here at Acme Corp. two weeks from today’s date. Thank you for the support and the opportunities you have provided me over the course of the last six years.”
When writing your resignation letter just remember to keep it brief, short, and professional.
You are not obliged to include the reason or reasons why you are resigning but if you decide to include them there is no need to be specific or detailed.
Remain polite throughout your letter avoiding any negative comments about bad experiences with your boss or colleagues, it is not the appropriate way to complain.
Always make sure you thank your employer for the opportunity and offer to assist through the transition, for instance, training your replacement
The resignation letter format you can follow when writing your letter is the following:
- Start by including your contact information such as first and last name, address, phone number, and email.
- The date and the contact information from your current employer.
- A professional and polite salutation.
- The first paragraph just needs to include your intention to leave, the role you are resigning from, and your last day of employment, considering the notice period of at least 2 weeks. If you are unsure about it, ask your employer or check your contract.
- The middle paragraph can be used to thank your employer for the opportunity and the time you were working for them.
- The final paragraph can include your offer of assisting in the transition period.
- Warm closing such as “Kind regards” or “Respectfully yours”.
- Your name and signature.
