In this guide, we will see some Sample resignation letter health reasons that you can use and adjust as needed.

Sample resignation letter health reasons

A sample resignation letter due to health reasons is useful if due to personal reasons, you work as a teacher, a manager, housekeeping, secretary, and/or you need to receive medical treatment at a hospital or because you are pregnant and would like to concentrate on it.

However, there is no need to lie saying you are leaving due to health issues because you don’t want to tell your employer you have a new job offer, because of a low salary, because you are going back to school or if you would like to focus on your personal growth.

If you are going to write a resignation letter, make sure you take into consideration the notice period your company may have included in your contract, it can be a 3-month notice, six weeks, four-week notice, or usually at least 2 weeks’ notice.

However, your employer may consider giving you an early release if you need to.

Also, if you need to resign on short notice make sure you let your employer know as soon as possible to avoid burning any bridges.

Dear Mr./Ms. Last Name:

It greatly saddens me to send you this letter of resignation. Effective at the end of this month, I no longer will be working here as a P.E. teacher.

Recently I have been noticing some changes in many aspects of my life, both personally and professionally. I have been overly exhausted, constantly in pain, and feel that my productivity has been cut in half. I went to a doctor, and I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a condition that involves chronic pain and soreness. Because of the high activity level consistent with my work, I am no longer able to teach my students effectively, and I do not want them to be impacted by this. My doctor agreed with me that this is the best decision for all involved.

I have so enjoyed my time here at FMA Middle School. My work gave me great satisfaction, and I never will forget the last 20 years of incredible friends and colleagues that I have gained. I hope we will still stay in touch despite my early exit.

Please let me know if there is any way I can help in finding my replacement. Although I no longer can do the work I once could, I hope to remain a resource and that we will stay in touch. Thank you so much for all the opportunities, and I wish everyone at FMA the very best.

Sincerely,

Dear Sir/Madam,

Resignation from POSITION due to medical grounds

I am very sorry to be writing this letter to hand my resignation due to medical reasons. As you are aware I have been having some medical problems over the past few months and it has left me now unable to continue working.

I am very sorry that it has to come to this and I enjoy working for COMPANY NAME and have enjoyed my career to date. Unfortunately, I now need to face facts and pay more attention to my health and I am unable to do this whilst I am still working. I do hope that you understand the predicament that I am in.

I will do what I can to help you with a swift hand over for my role but would like to finish as soon as I am able to so I can concentrate on my recovery/time remaining etc.

Thank you again for giving me this opportunity and experiences, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with COMPANY NAME.

Best wishes for the future.

Yours sincerely”

Mr. Phillip Harlowe

Director of Human Resources

TransShipping, Inc.

637 Northern Blvd.

Durham, NC 27703

Dear Mr. Harlowe:

It is with deep sadness that I must inform you of my decision to resign immediately from my position as Account Manager for TransShipping, Inc. due to my failing health. At this time, it is recommended by my team of physicians that I remove myself from the workplace to better focus on regaining my health.

I’ve so enjoyed working at TransShipping, Inc., and I am deeply saddened that I will not be associated with the company in the future.

I understand that sufficient notice of my intent to leave is expected, but unfortunately, I am not well enough to complete the notice period, which is why I have requested an immediate release.

I will be available on a sporadic basis (as my pain allows) if you would like me to help train the person who will replace me. Thank you for all you’ve done to contribute to my professional growth, and please feel free to keep in touch.

Sincerely,

Example from writeexpress.com:

“With much reluctance, I wish to inform you of my resignation as Personnel Director, effective as soon as arrangements can be made to hire a new director. Last week, while inquiring about changes in my productivity, we discussed the fact that despite adequate sleep and nutrition I had been feeling unusually tired. We concluded that a visit to the doctor was in order. Since then, my doctor has informed me that I have Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CFIDS).

Unfortunately, the erratic hours and the fast pace of our work environment worsen the effects of my illness. For these reasons, my doctor has advised a cessation of all work activity and full bed rest for an indefinite amount of time.

I am distressed that poor health dictates that I must quit my job. I searched a long time to find the kind of job that not only encourages the use of my creativity and is intellectually stimulating, but also affords an opportunity to meet with a variety of people on a daily basis. I appreciate the opportunity I have had to work here and sincerely hope that I may return when I regain my health.

Because my current major projects have been completed, now is the best time for my departure. Except for a few minor tasks, there is nothing that demands my immediate attention. However, if problems should arise, please contact me at home and I will gladly assist you in any way I can.”

“Effective immediately, I resign from my position as a counselor. I can no longer bear the high level of stress here at the Medical Center. I am, however, glad for the opportunity I have had to work here. This past year I have learned a great deal about my capabilities, as well as my limitations. Now that I realize I am not well-suited for this type of work, I intend to change my course of study. Fortunately, I discovered this before expending time and money in a field that is not right for me.

I decided to quit last week when Jane Doe notified me that she wanted to return to work here as soon as we had an opening. Since Jane is a previous employee, training her for this position would not be an issue. As she can assume my duties immediately, this should provide a workable solution for all parties involved.”

Example from writeexpress.com:

“Although I enjoy working here at Doe Realty, I am compelled to offer my resignation as a field representative, effective two weeks from today, or sooner if possible. I wish I could do otherwise but recent events have persuaded me to carefully examine the direction my life is taking.

Unfortunately, my position, which requires frequent entertaining of company clients, dramatically increases my exposure to alcohol, which has become a serious problem. Because my health and family are top priority, I must remove myself from all circumstances which could threaten my full recovery from this addiction.

But my job has been a wonderful experience. In addition to fostering intellectual growth, it has afforded opportunities for travel and adventure. I cherish the relationships I have had with my colleagues and I will miss all of you, but it is time to change the direction of my life. I am confident that the expertise I have acquired will enable me to find a good position elsewhere.

I expect to complete all of my outstanding obligations within the next week. Furthermore, I have arranged for my colleagues and my assistant to assume my responsibilities should it take longer than is expected to find a replacement.”
