I have accepted a new position within the company and will be relocating to the [city name/branch] in the near future.”

Resignation letter due to transfer

A resignation letter due to transfer is a very peculiar letter since you are simply resigning from your current job position to be transferred to another position within the same company.

However, it is still recommended going through the proper job resignation process by writing a formal resignation letter due to transfer showing your willingness and commitment to the company and to your new job position.

Resignation Letter for Switching Departments

A resignation letter for switching departments needs to be a formal document stating your intention to leave and thanking the immediate supervisor for the job opportunity. A resignation letter for switching departments should include the details of your transfer such as the date of departure, any and all projects you are working on right now and how they will be handled, and a contact number for your new position.

Here we will add some samples you can use as a resignation letter due to transfer.

Sample 4

This fourth example is related to a resignation letter due to transfer within the company to the same/different department and to a different city because you would like to be closer to family or because your spouse has recently been relocated.

[Date]

Dear [Name of recipient],

It is with a great deal of sorrow that I am notifying you that my employment with [name of the company/department] must end at the end of the month. My official last day of employment will be [Date].

The reason for my resignation is that I have a relative I need to be closer to due to a complicated health condition. Therefore, although I feel like a member of the [name of the company], I was compelled to accept a new job position in the branch located in [name of the branch/city].

I have not only enjoyed working at [name of department] but I am indebted to all the people that trained me throughout the years and helped to advance my career. I will miss my clients, and especially my co-workers who have become more than colleagues, but close friends.

I am anxious to help with the smooth transition of my job and I want you to know that I am available to help train the person who will be taking over my position. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do to help ease the transfer of my work projects—both current and future—or to help the team during the next two weeks.

I will be available to meet with the HR department to fill out any necessary paperwork and undergo my exit interview.

While I will not be on-sight after the end of the month, please feel free to call, email, or text me if you have any questions as I would be more than happy to assist you. I have provided all my contact information below.

Again, I am sorry to leave you, and the team, but I wish you all the best and promise that I’ll stay in touch.

Warm regards,
