When you think of “Jobs where you can work alone” you can imagine job options that can allow you to work on your own or alone.

Here is a shortlist of jobs where you can work alone:

This does not mean they can’t go to interviews or can’t answer job interview questions or that they won’t be excellent employees, it is just that they enjoy being on their own without too many people around them.

If you think you prefer working on your own, then you may have an introverted personality. 

However, there are no jobs were you work entirely by yourself.

You may have a certain level of independence but you won’t exactly be completely isolated from human interaction, which is almost impossible but it is possible to have minimal human interaction.

If you are currently looking to change or switch careers, here are some tips on how to go about doing that.

The list of job options will definitely allow you to escape the spotlight and attention but still ensure you are part of the working world.

In addition, finding a job that gets in tune with your personality is a must.

This will allow you to seek for a job that matches your skills and true talents, being closet to having a happy and successful career. 

Remember, wanting to work by yourself does not mean you heat people, maybe you are just an introvert and would prefer to avoid social interactions.

This will probably make you feel more comfortable, increase your motivation and allow you to keep your independence.

Let’s start getting deeper into some other options (remote work-related), besides the ones we just mentioned.

1. Social Media Assistant 

Businesses, no matter how big or small, need to keep an active social media presence.

However, not all of them can afford to have a dedicated in-house team, this is why many organizations opt-in having freelancers instead.

You’ll likely be able to find a flexible schedule to accommodate you, regardless of your time zone or postcode.”

Subsequently, you can think about how there are businesses all over the world that are in need of assistance with their social media.

In addition, this could give you the option to become a “flexible worker” and work anywhere in the world if you need to.

2. Bloggers

Starting a blog according to Fit Financials “Isn’t easy and takes a lot of hard work. It’s not for everyone.

I had to work for free for a long time to build this business from the ground up.

If you feel that you can help people with a blog and inspire others to live better lives, a blog is a great way to do that.”

However, for some people, it can be the best way to work independently, alone, at your own pace and without having any unnecessary human contact. 

3. Selling on Amazon

Besides being a great way to make good money, you have also the benefits of doing it from anywhere in the world connected to the internet and no physical contact with people is required.

In addition, it may sound way more complicated than it really is and you can actually do it part-time or full time.  

4. Virtual Assistant (VA)

Virtual assistant jobs are becoming quite popular and it is actually not surprising at all since the modern world demands these types of jobs.

For instance, you could be a virtual assistant for a blog where you could manage their business and even get paid not only for it but also for assisting the business owner.

5. IT professionals

People who work in this field require a certain level of concentration and have time to be on their own.

For instance, programmers who are coding do not like to be disturbed and prefer to be on their own to concentrate better.

In addition. System administrators, software engineers, data analysts or web developers also need a lot of undisturbed and alone time to concentrate on their work.

6. Researchers

Researchers spend most of their time alone, researching, analyzing data, writing, and reading.

From time to time they will be required to socialize their findings but it is not frequent and does not need to be interaction with others while working. 

However, some researchers that are into the marketing area of research may be required to be involved in big-picture thinking, spotting trends and on occasion, public speaking.

7. Horticulturist

Even though you may not like or enjoy having a job where you need to interact with many people.

However, it does not mean you hate all living things like for example animals or plants.

In this case, we can think about how pretty plants can be to look at and especially how they provide such peace and quiet. 

“Horticulturists know everything there is to know about plants—from the scientific name to the exact amount of water and sunlight needed for survival to ways to improve production and resistance to disease.”

8. Dog Walker

Many people consider dog walking as a part-time job for those who enjoy being around dogs more than people but if you have an entrepreneur spirit and vision, you could make this your full-time job and profession.

This may seem particularly the case if you tend to use apps or local agencies to advertise your services. 

However, you will need to interact with other people to some extent, on a daily basis it is just you and the dogs.

One of the most perfect “people free” jobs, doing what you love and taking care of dogs. 

9. Archivist

This type of job is meant for people that enjoy working a good amount of their time alone.

They are information professionals that are usually busy evaluating, organizing, maintaining records and archives up to date.

Archivists also enjoy handling things independently and preserve information according to their value. 

10. Actuary

This type of job requires the use of mathematics, statistics, and financial theories.

They analyze the financial costs of risks and uncertainty to help businesses and clients. It is important to consider that it is required to pass a series of exams to get certified, so your bachelor’s degree alone is not enough.

In addition, you will be required to have a strong background in mathematics, statistics and business-related theories.

11. Financial analyst

Financial analysts are said to evaluate budgets, businesses, and further financial related tasks and information.

“They analyze whether a finance body is stable or profitable adequately for investments. Stocks, bonds, figures, and data are all a finance analyst deals with.”

Subsequently, they are able to advise people and companies on investments.

However, they usually have to interact with customers during check-ups after intervals, still being more into dealing with numbers and figures more than people. 

12. Statistician

If you have an affinity with numbers, collecting, organizing and analyzing data to solve problems instead of interacting with other people, work independently and on your own, then this may be the ideal job for you. 

Even though a bachelor’s degree may be sufficient, if you would like to increase your chance of getting a job, a master’s degree in statistics or a related field may be required.

13. Lorry driver

According to Lily Martis from  Monster Staff, “Heavy and tractor-trailer lorry drivers transport goods from one location to another. Driving for hours on end, seeing the country, and listening to the radio—this job can be quite relaxing and offers ample time to be alone with your thoughts and away from the outside world.”

14. Janitor

Do you enjoy cleaning and keeping things tidy?

Well, you could use those skills and talent to clean buildings, offices, flats, schools, pretty much anywhere.

However, remember that this type of job requires the upkeep of buildings and grounds, washing floors and windows, sweeping walkways, etc. 

Consequently, most janitors tend to work during the evening when people have left or gone home for the night so you won’t actually need to deal with people.

15. Facebook Ad Manager

It is said that becoming a Facebook Ad Manager for businesses can actually make you gain an extra $1,000+ a month, and that is just with one client.

This type of job involves running ads for businesses to increase their customer base and income, representing the growth of the business.

16. Biomedical engineer

Biomedical engineers generally specialize in developing technologies that can help tackle health problems, such as new treatment devices or prosthetics.

With this profession, you could work from a university lab, hospitals, and private manufacturers.

However, some environments will require you to be a bit more social than others. 

If you enjoy creating and discovering groundbreaking technologies to help improve other people’s lives, then this is the ideal job for you.  

Why is this blog about jobs where you work alone important?

There are plenty of jobs where you could work alone, so finding the one you actually enjoy the most or feel the most comfortable with, is the real challenge.

However, it is important to remember that even though you may need to do a lot of the work independently and on your own, it is almost impossible to find a job that has zero contact with other people even if you chose to be a taxidermist or an embalmer. 

Additionally, being an introvert or having an introverted personality trait does not mean you can’t find a job you can enjoy and work (most of the time) on your own or alone and in the meantime earn a decent amount of money.
