Additionally, we will talk about how to link both accounts depending on whether you are using the website or the app and some basic troubleshooting steps if you have troubles linking MyFitnessPal to Fitbit.

How does MyFitnessPal work with Fitbit?

If you wonder ‘How does MyFitnessPal work with Fitbit?’ here we have the answer. If you would like MyFitnessPal to work with Fitbit or link them then, assuming you have created accounts on both Fitbit and MyFitnessPal the next step is to open MyFitnespal and click on ‘Apps’ on top of the menu bar. This will take you to a list of apps and accessories, scroll down until you find ‘Fitbit Tracker’ and click ‘Get’.

Here you will be asked to log into your Fitbit account to confirm the sync and it is pretty much it. You are ready to use MyFitnessPal while displaying the synced data from Fitbit. But you may wonder, what is the benefit of using MyFitnessPal and Fitbit together? Well, if you are determined to lose weight, these two are the perfect combo. However, remember that there are no magic apps or easy solutions when we have decided to start a weight loss journey but the results are worth all the effort and energy.

How do I enter my food in MyFitnessPal?

It is not a secret that exercise alone will not guarantee weight loss, even more so, achieving your personal goals. However, if you consult an expert they will probably tell you that the key is combining physical activity and watching over what you are eating daily. This is the part where it gets interesting because many people initially give up because they can’t easily keep track of what they are eating.

For me, this is one of the most common reasons why people start losing weight and gaining it back again because they never actually made a conscious decision to track their food. However, MyFitnessPal may be the solution to this kind of problem since you can enter the information about what you have had for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or even anything you ate in between. It even has the option to scan the barcode of whatever you are eating and it will automatically input the information into the food log, cool right? Well, at least it is for me.

We find this option very useful and will eventually make your calorie tracking easier than it has been every time you have tried to start a fitness journey modifying certain habits. Remember, ‘you are what you eat’ and if we think about it, we may find extra motivation when using this saying.

What is Fitbit for?

As you may be aware as of now, exercising or doing physical activity regularly can help you,  not only to live a healthier lifestyle but also to achieve any personal goals you may have. This is where Fitbit steps on the scene. Every time you go for a walk or run, Fitbit will be monitoring your calories burned, heart rate (when applicable), steps, distance, pace, etc.

Moreover, if your Fitbit is synced to MyFitnessPal, you may see some extra calories displayed at the bottom of the screen every time you finish a workout. This amount will vary depending on how much exercise you did and the intensity.

As indicated on nogettingoffthistrain.com, “When you sign up for MyFitnessPal, you set your height, weight, activity level, and how much weight per week you want to lose, and the app will give you a calorie amount. Eating that every day should get you to your weight loss goal, provided you track accurately”.

Consideration when linking with Fitbit

Fitbit can be linked to MyFitnessPal from the website, as well as from an Android or iOS device. After creating an account at fitbit.com, log into myfitnesspal.com and go to the ‘Apps’ tab and click on ‘Connect’ to link accounts. You should see the button just above the one that says ‘Buy’.

In contrast, if you are using an android or iOS device, first launch the MyFitnessPal app and select the menu located in the upper-left corner of the screen. However, if you are using an iOS device, you need to select ‘More’ and scroll to ‘Apps and Devices’. Next, scroll down to ‘Fitbit Tracker’ and hit the ‘Connect’ button.

Once you have done it, you will be redirected to the page to re-sign in to your MyFitnessPal account. Use the same email and password you normally use when logging into the app. Finally, authorize the connection between the account and that’s it, there are no additional steps required. You can start using both as you normally would.

What happens if I am having issues connecting accounts?

As recommended by the MyFitnessPal Support website, “If you are having an issue connecting within an app, simply connect via our website and the connection will transfer to the apps. To double-check that the connection has been made, you can go to the website at www.MyFitnessPal.com, then go to the “Apps” tab. On that page, you should see a list of your current connected apps, and Fitbit should now be one of them”.

Make sure you have linked the accounts correctly to avoid any issues and remember that once linked, only future recorded information will get transferred. Whatever measurements recorded so far will not get transferred over.
