All you have to do is to recall the things that made you feel grateful and write them down in your diary, or journal, or a notebook, on a daily basis.

Gratitude journals can be downloaded online as printable PDFs for your convenience or you can simply write them on Word document.

Write down all the good things that happened to you in a day, whether it’s a promotion, a test you passed in, your favorite dish you had just eaten, or anything that made you feel happy and grateful. 

What is the Difference Between a Gratitude Journal, Planner, Diary, and Notebook?

Gratitude journal, planner, diary, and notebook are all different things.

A gratitude journal is different from the rest three in a way that gratitude journal pinpoints things that you are grateful for whereas a planner focuses on what things you have to do, diary highlights the thing that happened in your whole day, and notebooks are used to take notes to help you remember things such as a lecture, list of groceries to buy and so forth.

Each of these four things has a different purpose and helps individuals in a different way.

These four things are not interchangeable. 

A planner may help you to plan things you need to do in the coming days or coming weekend but it might not happens that all the things to plan for the coming future make you feel grateful. 

Similarly, you might write down the events that happened the whole day but those events might not be only the ones that make you feel grateful.

Both positive and negative events of the day are written in a diary. 

In the same way, a notebook is a useful source of entering things you need to remember but these notes are neutral and merely reminders that might not contain the things that you feel grateful for.

Therefore gratitude journals its specific and its functions and differs from a planner, a diary, or a notebook.

It is the only thing that helps you identify the positive things that happened in your life and appreciate those things. 

Writing negative things about an event, the adverse times you went through successfully, and the challenges you fulfilled is not a bad thing but only if you are grateful for them.

Your gratitude journal is a source of recalling things that make you feel grateful, encourages you, and strengthens you for the incoming challenges of your life.

Keeping a journal and listing all the things that you are grateful for is a very healthy activity to improve your well-being, increase resilience, boost your self-esteem, and so on.
