Writing a “Deacon resignation letter.”

When writing a “Deacon resignation letter,” these are some of the things that you need to keep in mind.

  • The first step is to tell your church leader about leaving and the final work date. Keep it short as the essential part of the letter is the Last Date of your work.
  • Indicate the reason you are leaving. It would be best to be polite as you will leave a positive impression on your employer. Maintain your composure when drafting the letter.
  • Finally, thank the church leaders and members for the position and the opportunities you have enjoyed during your work period.
  • Ensure you proofread your letter before sending it to your church leader. You can send the letter to your family and friend to check for grammatical errors.

Jonathan E. Davis Pastor

Company Name

City, State, Zip Code

Dear Pastor Davis,

I am writing to inform you that I must resign from my position as Deacon with Company Name. After much prayer and discussion with my family, I have concluded that I simply have too many outside responsibilities in my life at this time and that I must pare things down a bit. Two weeks from today, Sunday, October 5, 2014, will be my last day serving as Deacon here at Maria Lutheran.

I truly regret that I must give up my treasured position; however, I am certain it is in the best interest of myself and my family. It is also good for the church because you all deserve a deacon who can offer 100% to the congregation, and I am unable to do so. I am happy to help in any way I can to ensure a smooth transition in my departure, and I intend to remain actively involved in Maria Lutheran.

Thank you so much for your attention and support in this matter. My prayers will be with you as you and the church move forward.

Sincerely,

Lester Jones”

“Dear Pastor Raymond and Deacon Board:

It is with deep sorrow that I find that I must resign from my position as a deacon at ABC Community Church. After much prayer, thoughtful consideration and discussion with my family I believe that my resignation is the best course of action under the circumstances. As I have no ill feelings toward or wish any harm to come to ABC Community Church, the leadership or the congregation, my family and I have decided to leave ABC and seek membership at another church in the area. We hope to maintain our friendships with everyone at ABC and will keep the church, its leadership and its members in our prayers.

As you all know through my expression of my opinion during various meetings, I strongly disagree with the decision of the church to incur significant debt to construct a new building. In addition to disagreeing over the amount of the loan obtained, I also disagree with some of the expensive, and in my view, unnecessary features being included in the new building. I believe, for example, that installing imported marble flooring and a koi fountain in the vestibule is an extravagant expenditure and I believe that the congregation’s tithes could be spent more responsibly through outreach to struggling individuals in our local community.

I believe that the leaders at ABC Community Church have lost sight of what the church should be and should do. Expensive construction projects are unnecessary, irresponsible and not in keeping with biblical principles in my opinion. Furthermore, incurring a large debt to pay for such luxuries because the church does not have the money in the bank to pay for them outright is even more irresponsible. For these reasons, I must resign and my family and I must move on to whatever God has planned for us in the future. My prayers will be with everyone at ABC Community Church.

Sincerely,

Joseph Brown”

Resurrection Catholic Church

Townville, CA 90121

Dear Father Tabac,

It is with my most sincere regret that I will be stepping down from my position as the deacon of Resurrection Catholic Church. This was an unexpected decision which was brought up by the fact that my health has been in question ever since my back surgery last year. Therefore, I will be resigning as of March 1, 2017.

As you know, my back pain has become an issue over the last few months and even more so within the past two weeks. While I wish the pain were such that I could continue serving as head of the worship team effectively, however, I feel that it would be best if took my leave and focused on recovering.

It has been a great experience learning from yourself and the other members of the Church. I have not only become a better leader, but I’ve also grown as a follower of Christ. Thank you for your mentorship throughout this entire process.

Please let me know if there is anything that can be done on my part to find a suitable replacement. I will always be willing to lend a hand whenever possible.

Forever in Christ,

George Smith”

John M. Smith

The Mission Church

Dear Bishop Smith,

Unfortunately, I am writing this letter to present my official resignation as leader of the Foreign Missions Team, effective two weeks from today (June 5, 2017). I have had such an amazing experience serving under your mentorship and instilling the love of Christ into the hearts of hundreds. However, my time with The Mission Church must come to a close.

I have been presented with an opportunity to lead a small group of missionaries in Portugal where, as you know, the presence of God has become less and less prevalent. I have prayed over this decision and I truly believe that this is what God wants me to do.

Your guidance over these past few years has been nothing but a positive impact on my life and those close to me. I only wish to continue teaching others as you have taught me. Thank you for everything and give my love to your family and the entire congregation.

I look forward to hearing back from you and I wish you all the best.

Regards,

Danny Collins”
