How to write an AXA cover letter

When applying for a position at AXA, your cover letter is an opportunity for you to tell your story, without being stuck in the formatting constraints of the AXA resume. The best format for writing a cover letter is:

  • Address the employer with a formal salutation. For example, “Dear/Hello (name of the recipient).” If you do not know the recipient’s name, you can refer to them as the hiring manager.
  • The next step is to state the position you are applying for and how you found the opening.
  • Make a brief statement about why you’re interested in the position. Write a paragraph about why you are the perfect candidate for the job.
  • State your skills and work experience. Ensure your skills and experiences are similar to the job position. When highlighting skills, provide the accomplishment you have achieved.
  • Conclude your letter with a forward-looking statement. For example, “I look forward to discussing the position with you further.”

Sample 1:

“Dear Hiring Manager,

I am a final-year student at ESCP Europe and will graduate in 2011. I am writing to express my strong interest in joining The Group AXA as an Intern within the Corporate Finance team.

The Group AXA is the global leader in financial protection reflecting the excellence of its teams. The Group has conducted numerous strategic transactions worldwide to further strengthen its positioning including the acquisition of B&B Insurance in Belarus.

I am excited about a position at AXA as it offers a great number of challenges and a unique opportunity to demonstrate my skills. I am confident it is an ideal place for me to learn the finer nuances and advanced techniques of professional Corporate Finance and it would provide a strong foundation on which to build my career. I bring to the table decision-making skills, determination and an openminded attitude.

Both my education and internships have enabled me to build an entrepreneurial spirit as well as strong analytical and methodical skills. Through these experiences, I have honed my skills in finance techniques as well as my understanding of financial markets. In addition, my ability to conduct valuation and financial analysis using DCF, trading and transaction multiples has further developed as a result of my academic and professional experiences. My assessment of a company’s business and strategy through the industry and financial statements analysis has become more refined.

As an Intern within the Investment Banking Department of the Royal Bank of Scotland, I was part of the time-to-market team wherein I was highly praised not only for keeping a cool head in high-pressure situations, but also for my dedication to quality work. My team took part in a variety of deals including the disposal of Super de Boer to Jumbo, the initial public offerings of CFAO and Médica, and the intermediated exchange & bond issue for Casino Group. I was therefore exposed to a learning environment and worked towards solving multifaceted business issues alongside highly motivated and talented individuals.

The skills of teamwork and responsibility I developed during my experience as a Junior Auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers were solidified. As a team, we shared our knowledge and experience to analyze the customers’ needs and propose the most appropriate solutions.

Becoming an intern with your company is a huge step in reaching my career goals and I am sure that I will be a great asset to your company. I would like to thank you at this time for considering me for this position and I am confident that you will agree I have the skills needed to handle this job.

I hope to hear from you very soon. Please call (555)-555-5555 to set up an interview.

Sincerely,”

Sample 2:

“Dear [recipient name],

I am writing to you regarding the Risk Management Analyst position at AXA. I hold a Master’s degree in Risk Management and have working experience in the Coal Mining Industry. The 6 months I spent in mining have indeed been a very valuable experience personally.

The milestone of my experience was being given the responsibility to develop and implement a new management system for the company, and being able to deliver in the end. Through the new management system, I have become part of the company‘s newfound growth. Furthermore, exposure to the mining industry and being able to utilize my Risk Management and analytical skill through various projects, has been a beneficial and eye-opening experience, which has helped me grow as an employee.

I feel that AXA highly suits my current situation as a Risk Management and Public Policy graduate. I want to apply my discipline and knowledge in the mining industry to AXA. I am also excited about the fact that I can achieve my long-term goal if I join AXA. My long-term goal is to become a prominent policymaker in the government as my father has carved his career in the Central Bank.

Furthermore, the key skills I have gained will also benefit the company as follows:

Communication: Being rotated throughout different divisions means that exemplary communication skills will be an advantage. Adaptability throughout the rotation period is also essential as it promotes learning and networking.

Project and Teamwork: Experience in projects promises a keen eye for detail, and respect for deadlines. This key skill set will benefit the company through effective and efficient work on projects, and ease in developing and managing relationships between team members whilst having the ability to resolve any conflict that arises.

Risk Management: Deep understanding of Enterprise Risk Management, which was practically used throughout my work to evaluate risk from external and internal. Able to perform risk evaluation and analysis, implement and plan the in-house audits, make risk analysis reports, and analyze and review different programs in place. I have the knowledge to handle statistical data and translate that into risk profiles, which can be turned into qualitative risk analysis

Strategic Management: Having a helicopter view of the corporate issues and development to identify strategic steps to be developed. The analysis was later to be used as the corporate strategy and was translated into the strategic initiative and Key Performace Indicator for the long-term growth of the business.

I believe that AXA will improve my skills and work ethos.  Thank you for sharing your time and energy in considering my application. Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,”
