Affirmations for abuse victims

  • This was not my fault. I am not stupid or dumb that I was “duped.” They are the abuser. They own that. I did what I needed to, to survive. I am courageous and strong.
  • I don’t need to keep seeking others’ validation to tell me that what they did was f@cked up. I know that they abused me and I am not to blame. I don’t need to beat myself up for not getting out sooner. And if I’m not able to leave yet, I will do something each day to move forward. Call and talk to advocate at domestic shelter or hotline, write down and journal or record what he says and is doing, so I can re-read it often or listen, so not to stay in denial. I may not be able to leave today, but I’m going to make steps to do so. I can start by being gentle with myself and taking time out to do something I like by myself or with a friend, even if it is a walk in nature or a hobby.
  • My soul is beautiful and I am worthy and lovable! I will concentrate on myself, learn to love myself, be independent and yet reach out for support only to healthy people, build self-reliance and learn all I can about narcissism, so I know the early signs and red flags to keep them out of my life in the future.
  • We may be a victim of abuse, but we have courage and strength and learned how to survive; we left and now we will thrive like we never have before!
  • Freedom, sweet freedom, is our reward! Use it wisely and spend it on learning to care, respect and love ourselves.
  • We will learn to set boundaries, and when people cross them, let them know unequivocally they have crossed them. A reminder is fine the first time. A second time, walk away.
  • Work with a therapist or attend a group, but remember, sitting in the negativity and re-living moments or obsessing is time spent on THEM! They have taken so much of our energy. Set a timer, only allow a certain amount of time to be talking about the abuse and the Narcissist. Then stop. Let the negativity go out of your body through meditation or song or nature, and pull the positive energy in from the Universe.
  • God Bless and sending positive vibes your way. I always keep my fellow survivors in my meditations or prayers. Know that healing takes place, be patient, but continue your self discovery journey. It will be well worth it. And YOU are worth it! Much love!
