9 Hidden Dream Signs You Ignore

Hey Optimist Minds!

Have you ever wondered what your dreams are trying to tell you?

Dreams include a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. Most dreaming occurs during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which occurs in cycles.

Sleep studies show our brainwaves are almost as active during REM cycles as they are when we’re awake. You may feel like a passive observer of what’s happening or an active participant based on the type of dream you’re having.

Often, our dreams show us hidden messages that our subconscious mind wants to bring to our notice. Unfortunately, as these messages tend to be cryptic, it’s hard to interpret what your dream is telling you. Moreover, many people struggle to remember what they dreamt of.

In this video, we’re going to explore nine such hidden dream signs that people tend to ignore. This information can help you make sense of what you’re dreaming about. But if you want to analyse a specific or recurring dream, it’s best to consult a psychiatrist.

Now, let’s begin.

One

Paths.

People often dream about walking on a road, pavement, or path. Sometimes, you see yourself in front of crossroads. The ease with which you can walk through these paths is a sign of your current journey in life.

Having may obstacles in your way could be a reflection of similar challenges in your life goals. In contrast, a smooth road could indicate clarity and effectiveness.

Two

Flowers.

It’s always lovely to see pretty flowers, whether in reality or in dreams. In the latter’s context, flowers attest to something good that is happening. Budding flowers show the beginning of new chapters in life.

Flowers in full bloom represent flourishing and prosperity. Nevertheless, if the flowers start to wilt, they might be a sign of change and endings.

Three

Embarrassment.

Waking up from a dream that had you in a humiliating position can be hard. You wake up feeling scared, uncomfortable, and helpless. Most people try not to think too much about it because of the shame associated with the dream. However, seeing embarrassing dreams can be a sign of vulnerability, judgement, and issues with acceptance.

Four

Colours.

Experimental studies done on REM sleep have revealed that people often dream in colours even though they may not remember it. The colours you see in your sleep can indicate your emotional state as well as some of your personality traits.

For example, the colour orange is believed to be a sign of ambition, joy, and energy. Red represents passion and anger while green symbolises life forces. Usually, the meanings are based on the psychological associations the dreamer places with those objects and colours.

Five

Water.

Much like colours, water too can indicate your emotional state of mind. The specific body of water and the movement in it will vary the hidden message. Peacefully flowing water represents serenity and satisfaction with life.

A wide expanse of water, like a river or ocean, can be a sign of a challenge that you must get through. Similarly, flooding and leakages imply that you’re quite overwhelmed with possible crisis situations.

Six

Conflict.

You may dream about an argument or fight with a loved one. Or, perhaps, you’ll relive a conflict that already happened in real life. You might even see a clash of ideas or intentions.

When you dream about conflict, you might wake up feeling negative about the other person or entity involved. But this could also be a sign that you have something to say that you haven’t managed to communicate yet.

Seven

Soil.

When you dream about the earth and mud, it can be a signal of immobility, unrest, and growth. The texture and context of the soil change according to the underlying message.

Seeing it in the ground with plants and flowers growing out of it can be a sign of rebirth or a transition. Sticky, messy mud might mean that you’re feeling stuck somewhere. You might also visualise it as dirt if you’re feeling unsettled.

Eight

Boxes or compartments.

Seeing things like crates, cartons, cubicles, and enclosed spaces in your dream typically represent some kind of confinement. The concept of a box is a metaphor for something hidden away or kept separate from the outside world.

If you see such containers in your dream, it might be because there’s something hidden from your knowledge that you feel compelled to reveal. It could also imply that you feel the contents of the box need to be protected.

Nine

Falling.

Dreaming about tripping or falling down from high surfaces are generally interpreted to show a lack of control. It’s a jarring feeling to have even if you’re only falling in a fantasy world.

It’s scary to not know how the fall will impact you when done, especially when there’s not much you can do to prevent it. This could be a sign that you’re feeling helpless about something in your life that you do not have much influence over.

Did any of these signs remind you of something that you dreamt about? Do you think you know what the hidden message of the dream was? Share your thoughts and stories with us in the comments. We’d love to hear from you.
